Visitor Survey

Over Easter Whitestone Arts (of which I am a founder director) has been conducting a survey of visitors and walkers on Haworth Moor, helped by Jasmine Taylor and Rebecca Stott, Travel & Tourism students at Leeds City College (Keighley Campus).

Having planned to go out on Bank Holiday Monday we postponed due to rain, and were rewarded with glorious sunshine on Tuesday. Working at Top Withens and the Brontë bridge we met walkers from as far afield as Australia, France and Wakefield. But it was very cold….

We are trying to find out how far people have travelled, what motivates them to come to this particular area, what their landscape preferences are and what impressions they take away. The responses will be fed into a presentation that Whitestone Arts are making at a symposium on landscape and literature in Haworth on 6 October. This forms part of my Residency output, and will be the subject of a future post
