Stanza Stones at Nab Hill, 19 May

After a fascinating walk on Stanbury Moor, learning about mosses and plant species from Johnny & Anna Turner, I went to a dance and poetry event on Nab Hill above Oxenhope to celebrate the completion of Simon Armitage’s Stanza Stones. Readings by Simon Armitage, The Writing Squad and Tabeeb International New Writers were interpreted by students from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.

Each of the 6 stones, carved by Pip Hall, displays a poem from the sequence ‘In Memory of Water’ dealing with water in its various states: mist, ice etc.

Simon Armitage is a key speaker at the symposium Unbounded Moor taking place in Haworth on 6 October
